For Nicolas Chupin, craftsmanship is second nature that has been obvious since childhood: grandson of a cabinetmaker, working for various leather goods brands, the passion for leather and the desire to create his own models led him to train in the profession of leather goods and upholstery. His pronounced taste for travel, literature, the choice of beautiful materials, his desire to tell stories, launched him in 2017 in the manufacture of tailor-made clothing to open up to a wider audience in 2024. Omane, chosen in reference to the homonym sultanate, cradle of the “Arabian Nights”, testifies to a call to travel, inspiration and poetry. OMANE also carries the first letters of the main woods (Olivier, Cherry, Amarante...) worked in order to adorn each piece of leather goods in a unique way. A first collection was born in his studio in Saumur with a few pieces all inspired by the spirit of stopover, of travel where each piece is thought of as so many objects that are reminiscent of those used by our ancestors in their travels. A taste for the beautiful, the real, the authentic at the service of French crafts where leather and wood are sublimated to offer unique and rare pieces.

It is always with a bit of restraint that we approach a craftsman, secretly hoping that he will respond to our messages, that he will adhere to our desire to talk about him, or even that he will even collaborate actively. Omane Paris is a house that was quickly spotted on social networks, which immediately attracted us and around which we approached very quickly. However, Nicolas Chupin was immediately attentive and was very generous in meeting our expectations, sending us visuals and telling us stories. It is therefore a real pleasure to talk about this very recent brand that demonstrates rare know-how in its inspiration and elegant in its composition by combining leather and wood. It was from his very first collection entitled Première Escale that we chose the Taïga pouch in the shape of an envelope recalling the correspondence between travelers and the Fyodor card holder in tribute to the novelist Dostoyevsky. Very beautiful, useful objects full of the charm of the inspirations that gave life to them.

In 2018, Martin met an artisanal and century-old family workshop in the heart of Belleville in Paris making leather harnesses, tool cases and nail pockets, by hand or with machines from yesteryear, and it was the trigger. Creating authentic, sustainable and local pieces of leather goods, using traditional know-how, ignoring fashion that passes and throws away, by offering quality pieces that guarantee reasonable and rational consumption, these are the values that resonate with the mission that Martin has set for himself and that will be able to take root and materialize. Jack of Spades was born. Since then, Valet de Pique has joined forces with a second family leather and saddler company not far from Biarritz, and from these two partner companies, will produce exceptional leather goods, which last over time, which ages well, ages well, is patinated, maintained and repaired if necessary. A leather goods where elegance emerges in simplicity with a concern for the well done, for the beautiful, which lasts a lifetime.

It is this attention to detail, simplicity, this taste for current but timeless pieces, using traditional skills passed on from generation to generation that seduced us at Valet de Pique. With more than 10 years of experience in creating fashion accessories, Anne-Laure Jaurand has developed particular expertise in bags and worked with a multitude of materials. Over the years, and even before La Citadine was officially born, I had the opportunity to test, give and treat myself to several bags. You see here some samples because I mainly like “messenger” bags, carried on the shoulder, you have to admit that they have the perfect size, which is quite rare as far as I am concerned. Each time, it was an opportunity to choose the perfect assortment, exterior and interior, from handbag to travel bag. In addition to the pleasure of talking with the absolutely adorable and accessible designer, you receive a unique bag, sewn especially for you and in a very short time.

First met by chance at an ephemeral pop-up in the Marais, then at the Made In France show, Hortense is the very embodiment of the person who enchants us spontaneously, with her bright smile and the charm of her universe. It all started in April 2020, during the first lockdown, where Hortense discovered her grandmother's sewing machine and learned to sew on her own. She makes her first tote bag with scraps of Toile de Jouy. That's when the big adventure began, with the challenge of manufacturing all the accessories in France. In September 2020, serial manufacturing was delegated to a workshop located in the Maritime Alps. Then, in Champagne-Ardenne, she meets Laurence, Bernadette, Edith and Aurélie, four seamstresses, who accompany her in the production of small series, based on prototypes imagined and made with her own hands in Paris. It is the beginning of an adventure that has continued to develop and to offer new products regularly.
