Nahaska

by Elodie Lissar

Life is not always a long, quiet river and Elodie's journey reminds us of this. After a few steps aside in law, tourism and sport, it was health problems that caused her to reconsider her priorities and look for what really made her tick. Sometimes it is enough to immerse yourself in the pleasures of childhood, complete a few internships to realize that your place and your talent will blossom in crafts. It remained to be seen in which field: it was that of jewelry. Nahaska was born in 2012, and from her workshop located in the Basque Country, Elodie creates unique pieces and in limited series, working exclusively with bronze. This mixture of copper and tin, more rarely used in jewelry, allows jewelry with a raw appearance but characterized by beautiful warm colors, oscillating between golden yellow and a few pink reflections, which gain a patina over time. A material that is quite hard to work with which makes the technique of making less easy, but makes it possible to create jewelry with a very refined, almost tribal design.

Inspirations

Create natural imprints to be worn on the skin, reflecting the strength and fragility of living beings. His sources of inspiration come from the vegetable kingdom and the primitive arts.

Values

Creating jewelry by hand requires many hours of work, which involves a taste for the repetitive gesture, the knowledge of the material that must be managed to constrain to give it the desired shape, in a word, passion.

Products

Collections varying with the seasons offering rings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches, having in common that they are all in bronze and evoke both the finesse of creation and the strength of the material in its most raw aspect.

Tested and loved it

A very nice discovery that combines both the extreme kindness and accessibility of its creator and a universe that is not unlike that of other houses we love, where from the power of the material emerge refined, feminine but present, original jewelry, with a strong visual and aesthetic identity. It was the Aubépine ring that seduced me and that you can see in photos below. I wear few necklaces but rings every day and this ring with this hawthorn leaf that wraps gently around my finger is absolutely lovely. Very beautiful craftsmanship.
